anniversary cakes

For our sixth wedding anniversary Patrick and I decided to use the traditional and modern gift suggestions.  Our choices were candy, iron, and wood. For a golfer this is a no brainer…Patrick had the choice of either a new iron or a wood, easy enough.
For me, things were a bit tough. Candy, considering I’m still recovering from [...]

where my shorties at?

I knit Scout some “shorties”  using the wool we dyed with Kool Aid.

These pics were taken a few weeks ago, so he isn’t shrinking, I’m just procrastinating.

You would think the wool diaper covers would be too warm, but the wool is actually more breathable than our plastic covers or disposables. Another wool advantage, it’s completely water [...]

I have a small obsession with legwarmies, even worse, chunky baby legs in legwarmies. Problem is, I had boys and my husband isn’t a fan…..clearly many of you can understand why. When our son’s outfit reminds folks of the 80’s wardrobe staple as seen below, it’s time to evaluate the situation.

OK, that’s my cloth diaper tidbit, [...]

citrus sky

During my pre-baby knitting frenzy, I was inspired by the combination of blue and orange Malabrigo yarn and a pattern I couldn’t wait to try.  These have become my favorite longies (i.e. wool diaper cover for cloth diapers….I’ll explain later, for now I’ll spare you) and they are so soft against his skin and anyone who is snuggling with him!

fruits of our labor

The best part about making things yourself is enjoying them when they are complete.
This goes for new babies and for handmade knits.  Even better….a new baby in handmade knits!

Easter basket goodies

While browsing Ravelry, as I do too often, I found a few knits for the boys’ (that’s weird to say) Easter baskets. For Scout, I knit the bunny blanket buddy pattern (say that 3 times)! I used a skein of organic cotton I picked up a few months back and I think I’ll use the rest of it to [...]
