Well, I’m a bit late (actually a couple weeks) on posting pics of Scout and Paxon’s rooms for Kelly’s Korner! I actually took the time to clean up their rooms and take pictures a few weeks ago, so I’m going to post them anyway, if only for my memory!

Come on in.

I purchased the changing table (i.e. old dresser) from Craigslist for a whopping $40! Given, it was dusty, forest green, and dazzled with brass hardware…nothing a little fresh paint and hardware couldn’t fix! Since the dresser would be in the baby’s room I used a no VOC paint, which keeps chemicals out of baby’s lungs (and out of pregnant Momma’s lungs while she paints). I had plenty of these silver pulls leftover from our previous homes (I have a need to put them on every kitchen cabinet).

And this…is where the magic happens. The tush cleaning magic. We’ve got our cloth diapers in the basket, wipe solution in the bottle, a wipes warmer for the wipe towels, a dimmer switch for the light above, and of course, the changing table pad that the dirty critter snuggles on.

Next to the changing table sits one of my favorite antique store finds, an old shoe shining stool. Actually, my mom found it first and since I was pregnant she let me buy it instead (that’s the trouble with antique shopping with friends and family, there could be a battle for a good treasure). It looks like a normal stool, but when we opened the top, we found the spot for your shoe and lots of old shoe shining tools! Pax comes in to hang out and watch Scout on that stool everyday and he’s also been known to store some of his own treasures inside this little treasure!

A silly little print I found on Etsy! It’s us, trecking to Oklahoma with all those bags on top, me waving my hand out the window like a carefree gal does, and Scout and Pax in the back..snoozing, reading,….not sure, but it looks like they are being quiet, so that’s good.

I found these little bins in the kitchen section of IKEA. I think they could work in so many spaces, but they are perfect above the changing table to hold all those small items.

A shelf I bought at IKEA, the sock monkey from Etsy, a plant and pot from IKEA (which I just realized I haven’t watered since I bought it 2 months ago…it’s still alive? I need more of those!), and an Automoblox SUV.

The crib is from IKEA, I made most of the bedding (the fitted sheet is just a plain organic cotton from Babies R Us), and the wooden fish mobile.

I love this basket. When Pax and I visited the Dewberry farm last fall we picked it up in the little general store.

Th sunshine shelf (I’ve yet to put on the old metal hooks, sorry Mema) and some trinkets hanging out on top. I haven’t really put much thought into the things on the shelves in Scout’s room. When Pax was born I tried to make sure everything was balanced and color coordinated, but it usually meant filling his room with stuff he didn’t want around. I’ve learned that sometimes it’s best to sit back and let their rooms evolve with things they make, find, like, etc…that is, unless it looks just plain tacky? just kidding…kind of.

Reading IS cool. I agree.

The little nightstand/bookshelf area. The lamp is from Target, the frame is monogrammed with “Scout” (thanks Julie R…we still need to put a picture in it actually), and the bookshelf itself was a super thrifty antique store find and it was already the perfect shade of green! Although, it could be coated in lead paint, the verdicts still out. The array of board books were accumulated from Paxon’s baby days and there are a few parenting/baby care books tucked in there (collecting dust) too!

Here’s the old rocking chair. I tried to get a good picture and I couldn’t really fit it into a frame, so here are the spindly parts that I love so much. I made a cushion for it with trim around the edge, which wasn’t as disastrous as I’d thought. Then, I threw an antique white chenille throw over it for a little more cushion and coziness.

Lastly, tucked behind the door, the sling station! We love our slings.
Hope you all enjoyed the peek inside Scout’s space and I’ll see you tomorrow with Paxon’s pad.

I want to live in his room!!! SO CUTE!! I love the bird print. Etsy is an addiction for me! I could browse and unfortunately buy for hours! I LOVE IT! Great decorating job, so cute!
Wow! Ryan’s room is so sad compared to this. I never finished decorating it….I think I’m inspired!
it turned out just perfect carrie! i just love all the little carrie-touches:)
thanks Momma E! I’ve tried to comment on your room post but it’s easier to buy a car online than it is to leave a comment with blogspot!! I have to keep respelling those random words and then it deletes my post! I love Addison’s room and I’m always inspired by your creativity and organization!
It’s so adorable. Please help me when I have to turn my beloved sewing room/office/all-about-Taryn room into a nursery. I will probably scream-cry the entire time, but you already know I’m selfish, so you won’t think less of me…
Can you come decorate when I have babies!? The rooms are adorable!!! Taryn needs help… I need help… You could just make a business out of this…lol
wow love everything about this room.
