Learning to read is such an emergent milestone. It takes a few years to get the letters down, the sounds they make, and blending it all together. Over the last few days, Pax has taken a huge leap and now attempts to read anything he can get his hands on. He’s always listened for hours while Patrick and I read, but now he enjoys the solitude of attempting a book on his own. For any parent who has seen their child soak up what you teach them and then read right in front of you, it’s amazing!
He loves to read his BOB books. They are quick, easy for him to master, and silly enough to keep him giggling!
He views his bookshelf in a whole new light now: books he can read (some of the words) and those that Momma reads.
I caught him reading a few books before we left for the water park today….
….and then he grabbed another book for the road
…and a few more for bedtime.
We are going to have some fun trips to the library this summer. I can’t wait!

Good one! You can tell the kinds of books my son likes, all slightly inappropriate or scary! Everybody poops is right up his alley!
I’ll have to look into those BOB books…I’ve never heard of them!
