Anyone who has been around a newborn has probably experienced what they call “The Witching Hour.” For some unexplained reason, many newborns become crankier in the evenings during the first few months. So, the only way we get a homemade meal around this place is if I prepare it in the afternoon while the babe is napping. Once the evening rolls around, momma is taking care of the baby, not making supper.

I remembered Taryn telling me how scrumptious the Sri Wasano’s Infamous Indonesian Rice Salad was from The Moosewood Cookbook and decided it was a safe bet in our situation. I whipped it up yesterday afternoon, put it in the fridge, and it was served chilled with some grilled salmon. It made a fabulous lunch today as well….if I could only figure out a way to pull it off as breakfast?
